Twenty five years ago, my husband and I wanted to add a dog
to our family. I wanted a Golden Retriever and he wanted a Yorkshire
Terrier. After a couple years of searching, we
found a breed that had the gentleness of the Golden and that terrier
attitude! We discovered the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier and haven't looked
back.
Our first Wheaten, Ch. Mariner's Unsinkable "Molly" CD got
us hooked. In 1987, we put her in the local dog show and she got a Blue Ribbon!
Went on to her Canadian Championship and her Companion Dog Obedience title.
Since then we have shown many dogs to their Championships,
continue to liven up the local obedience classes and have a limited breeding
program. We have recently starting showing in the United States. Seamus
was our first Canadian American Champion and Guinness is now showing in the
States.
We also have two great daughters who were raised with Wheatens
and help mom and dad out a lot. Balancing family, work and dogs is a real challenge!
That enthusiastic, unconditional Wheaten greeting makes it all worthwhile.
