Your puppy has been fed
Pro Plan Selects Natural Turkey and Barley Formula PUPPY. This is a top of the line
dog food and is available at larger pet stores. Currently your puppy is fed twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Feed 1/2 cup of dry dog food, twice a day. Soften food by pouring about a 1/8 cup of boiling hot water over the food. Allow food to soak in the water and cool about 10 minutes. Over the next two weeks, as the puppy's teeth come in you can add less and less water, graduating to just dry food. A regular feeding schedule is important to assist house training. Leave the food down for puppy for 15 minutes. If the puppy does not eat all the food, do not worry, take the food up, and feed less next meal time. Puppy may need a few days to adjust to his new surroundings. If puppy continues to eat less than 1/4 cup of food at each feeding let me know. If puppy eats all the food, gradually add more food at each serving to a maximum of 1 cup twice a day. In a week you can start to add a teaspoon of cottage cheese to the food. This provides a little extra calcium to the puppy's diet as teeth come in. It is also a special treat. Monitor the puppy's bowel movements after introduction of any new food, such as cottage cheese, milk bones or dog treats. Ensure that these new foods are not causing diarrhea. Introduce new foods slowly. Fresh cool water should be available throughout the day. Restricting the puppy's water after 7 p.m. at night will help the puppy make it through the night without peeing. Puppy may have Milkbone treats. I like Pounce cat treats for training puppies. At six months of age, some of my dogs became picky eaters. Sometimes I add 1/8 can of canned dog food to entice them to eat. Dogs can switch to Pro Plan Selects Natural Turkey and Barley Formula ADULT at one year old. *** Wheatens have a sensitivity to wheat.
